(Photo by Tawatchai Kemgumnerd)The Department of Corrections has deployed 313 vehicles for use by the nation's prisons after a five-year rental contract was agreed with a private firm. The vehicles will be used to carry detainees to court, other detention facilities or hospitals outside prisons, the officials said. According to the department's announcement dated Sept 13, three companies took part in e-bidding on Sept 6 to supply prison vehicles and related equipment. Pol Col Naras said only a few inmates have tried to break out of prison in the past.
